Started with the title “NATIONAL MEANS – CUM – MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME” (NMMS). Under this, scholarships are provided by the Government of India to all the students studying in class 8 of government schools all over India at Gujarat state level whose parents’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs.1,50,000. This scholarship is worth Rs.1200 per annum. Class 9 to 12 is given on completion of prescribed criteria at the rate of. The main objective of this scheme is to curb the school dropout rate of talented students of economically weaker sections of government schools and encourage them to study till class 12.
A scheme called National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) for students studying in Std. 8 from MHRD, NEW DILHI for the purpose of reducing the drop out rate in secondary and higher secondary schools. Has been implemented. The examination will be held in the near future by the State Examination Board, Gandhinagar to select the beneficiary students.
NMMS Exam, Notification, Apply Online, Hall Ticket, Answer Key, Result, Merit 2022 – National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Exam acronym as NMMS Exam is sponsored by Central Government and is conducted by the local educational authority to award (The amount of scholarship is proposed to be Rs.6000 per annum @Rs.500 per month.) 1,00,000 scholarships (from class IX till class XII for a maximum period of four years) to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs.1,50,000 per annum from all sources.
Each State / UT shall have ×xed quota of scholarship which are decided on the basis of enrollment of students in Class VII and VIII in the State/UT concerned and population of children of concerned age group of class VII and VIII. The scheme would provide reservation to different categories of students as per the State / UT norms; as different States / UTs have their own norms of reservation.
Reservation: State reservation norms will be implemented for the award of scholarships in each district (a caste certificate from Mandal Revenue Ocer has to be submitted by the candidate as proof in Original).

Scholarship Amount and Payment Rules :-
- Monthly Rs. 1000 / – per annum for Rs. 12000 / – Scholarship will be available to eligible students for four years.
- Scholarships are paid by the eligible students as per the guidelines of MHRD, New Delhi will be directly credited to the bank account of the beneficiary students.
- Examinations are conducted only by the State Examination Board. The State Examination Board will not be responsible for the scholarship.
NMMS Eligibility Criteria 2021 :-
The exam conducting body has specified certain NMMS 2020 eligibility norms that students need to satisfy before applying for NMMS exam. Check the eligibility of NMMS exam 2020 below.
1. Candidate who scored at least 55% of marks in class VII examination and has been promoted to Class VIII for the academic session 2019 In respect of SC/ST candidate they should has secured at least 50% or equivalent grade i.e., B+ grade for all categories.
2. Candidate is studying in Government /Zilla Parishad/ Municipal/private aided High School is only eligible to write the examination.
3. Students, whose parental annual income is below Rs. 1,50,000/- from all sources is eligible to appear for the examination (an Income certificate from Mandal Revenue Ocher has to be submitted as proof In original), In case of Government employee salary certificated will be enough as a proof of income issued by the employer.
4. The students studying VIII class in AP/ Gujarat Residential High Schools, AP/ Gujarat Social Welfare Residential Schools, AP/ Gujarat Tribal Welfare Residential High Schools, Government Ashram High Schools and Kasturba Residential Schools, Model schools with the residential facility, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas and in Private unaided Schools are not eligible to appear for the Examinations.
5. Candidate has also to submit the original caste certificated (issued by the MRO) to the Headmaster.
6. Candidate has also to submit the Original VII class Pass Memo of Marks to the Headmaster.
7. The candidates of Aadhaar districts shall have to furnish Aadhaar Number compulsorily, otherwise, the application will be rejected.
Income Limit :-
As decided for the NMMS examination, the annual income of the guardian of the candidate should not be more than Rs.1,50,000/-. A certified copy of the guardian’s annual income Certificate must be attached to the student’s application form. ( Income Certificate of an official authorized by the government should be attached).
Examination Fee :-
- General Category and OBC Examination fee for category students will be Rs.70/-
- Examination fee for PH,SC and ST category students will be Rs.50/-
- The service charge has to be paid separately.
- Fees paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
NMMS 2021 Exam Pattern :-
Students preparing for the NMMS exam 2020 must go through the exam pattern to know about the marking scheme, the number of questions and so on.
